OFFICE OF SPECIAL INQUIRIES & REPORTS
BOARD OF EDUCATION,
WHIT CHALL, LONDON,
S.W.1.
12th May, 1931.
Dear Mayhew,
I promised to let you have a copy of the
document which we are sending to the Universities Bureau
about the Readership in History at the University of
Hong Kong.
I very much dislike the document furnished
by the University authorities, but it was quite
impossible for us to edit it.
I do not myself think that the Board of
Education ought to be dealing with iniversity appointment
in this way, and if Hornell had not written personally
to us I doubt if we should have become so involved in
the matter. It seems
to me that the Universities
Bureau is the proper organ for making known these
posts and for interviewing the applicants, but I should
like to talk this over with you some time or other.
Yours sincerely,
(SGD.) S.H. WOOD.
